TIMUR'S INVASION - 1398 AD
     It was during the last king of the Tughlak dynasty,the mighty king   
     of Turkestan Timur invaded India. Timur captured the city. Thousands  
     of people were killed. He crossed Indus and captured Multan and just
     walked over to Delhi without much resistance. At Delhi he defeated
     Mahmud Tughlak the last of the rulers of the Tughlak dynasty and 
     entered the city where for five days his men killed and plundered in 
     a general massacre. After fifteen days, Timur returned to Samarkhand 
     carrying away a large booty with him leaving behind a shattered Delhi 
     Sultanate caught in famine, disease and anarchy.
