GHIYASUDDIN TUGHLAK Ghiyasuddin Tughluq (1325-1351 AD),who was the Governor of Punjab during the reign of Alauddin Khilji ascended the throne in 1320 AD and founded the Tughlaq dynasty. He built the city of Tughlakabad near Delhi. He conquered Warangal and put down the revolt in Bengal, introduced various socio-economic reforms. MUHAMMED-BIN TUGHLAK Muhammad bin Tughlaq (1325-1351 AD) was a great, intellectual, just, merciful, generous and a strictly religious person, but a man devoid of any practical wisdom. Therefore all his schemes for improvement of administration and extension of his dominions came to nothing. He inherited a massive empire but lost many provinces, more particularly Deccan and Bengal. His empire covered the regions from Peshawar in the north and Madurai in the south, and from Sindh in the west to Assam in the east. The capital was transfered from Delhi to Devagiri. However, it had to be shifted back within two years as there were no adequate arrangements in the new capital. He also introduced copper and brass coins as token coins and ordered that these coins should be considered at par with the silver and gold coins in value. This resulted in forged coins and as a result token currency was withdrawn. He died in 1351 AD. FIROZ SHAH TUGHLAK Firoz Shah Tughlaq (1351-1388 AD), cousin of Muhammad-Bin Tughlak came to throne in 1351 AD. He was a god fearing person devoted his energies in the betterment of his people. He was not successful and could not control the rebellions which broke out in the different parts of the empire. He increased the numbers of schools and hospitals. He established new towns like Ferozabad, Fatehbad, Jaunpur, Hissar, Firoza and Firozpur. After the death of Firoze Tughlaq, there were civil wars. Nasiruddin Muhammad(1394-1412 AD) was the last of the Tughlaq Sultans. Timur's invasion ended the Sultanate of Delhi.
